Calendars

To use the calendar facility in VPOP3 you need a CalDAV aware client. We have tested it with the free Mozilla Sunbird & Lightning products.

These products need a URL to be able to access the CalDAV data store. The simplest way of finding out the URL is to log into your VPOP3 Webmail page, go to Tools→Settings and go to the Calendar tab. Your calendar(s) are listed there, and if you select one, its URL will be displayed. Copy this into the URL section in the CalDAV client, and enter any other settings required by the client (eg your username/password) and that should be it.

Maintaining calendars

If you need to create, delete or share any calendars you also do that through the Webmail Tools→Settings→Calendar tab.

Creating a new calendar

Requires: VPOP3 Enterprise

To create a new calendar, click New…, then enter a calendar name and click OK.

Deleting an existing calendar

Requires: VPOP3 Enterprise; must be the owner of the calendar; must not be the default calendar

To delete a calendar, select it in the grid, then click the Delete button. If you are sure, click OK to proceed.

Sharing a calendar

Requires: VPOP3 Enterprise; must be the owner of the calendar

To share a calendar, select it in the grid, then click on the Share button.

In the subsequent screen, permissions can be set for users, groups or everyone (“Anyone”). The possible permission rights are “Full”, “Update”, “Read”, “None”.

Adding a permission setting

Click Add Permission; a new row will appear - double-left click into each of the cells in that row, in order to specify the Type, Name (if applicable) and Rights.

Removing a permission setting

Select the permission row in the grid, then click on Remove Permission. Alternatively, double-left click into each of the cells for that row and change the values, to apply a different setting.

Setting up a global calendar

Requires: VPOP3 Enterprise, one user to host the calendar

There is not a specific facility for a global calendar. Instead, a calendar which belongs to a particular user must be shared with everyone. This could be any user's default calendar, but it is likely you will want to create a new calendar specifically for this purpose. A user can create a new calendar (see above), then share it with the following permission: Type - Anyone; Rights - Update.

This would create a calendar that all users are able to read and write to.
