Calendars

To use the calendar facility in VPOP3 you need a CalDAV aware client. We have tested it with the free Mozilla Sunbird & Lightning products as well as the emClient email client.

These products need a URL to be able to access the CalDAV data store. Once you have the URL (see below), copy it into the URL section in the CalDAV client, and enter any other settings required by the client (eg your username/password) and that should be it.

Managing calendars

Calendar management takes place in VPOP3 webmail.

Since version 5, calendars are managed via a dedicated Calendars tab. You can access this via Tools → Calendars.
In version 4, to access the calendar settings, go to Tools → Settings → Calendars.

The following table details how to perform key tasks in versions 4 and 5.

How to Requirements
Action Version 4 Version 5 Version Other
Finding the calendar URL Select the calendar; the URL is displayed beneath the grid Select the calendar, then click Properties. View the line, labelled URL. Basic or Enterprise None

Adding a permission setting Permissions can be set for users, groups or everyone (“Anyone”). The possible permission rights are “Full”, “Update”, “Read”, “None”. Click Add Permission; a new row will appear - double-left click into each of the cells in that row, in order to specify the Type, Name (if applicable) and Rights.
Removing a permission setting Select the permission row in the grid, then click on Remove Permission. Alternatively, double-left click into each of the cells for that row and change the values, to apply a different setting.
Creating a 'global' calendar There is not a specific facility for a global calendar. Instead, a calendar which belongs to a particular user must be shared with everyone. This could be any user's default calendar, but it is likely you will want to create a new calendar specifically for this purpose. A user can create a new calendar (see above), then share it with the following permission: Type - Anyone; Rights - Update. This would create a calendar that all users are able to read and write to. Enterprise One user to host the calendar
